Microneedling

Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive treatment in which tiny punctures in the skin are created using micro-fine needles. This triggers the body's wound healing process, stimulating collagen and elastin production. Professional products are applied topically (such as hyaluronic acid, peptides or vitamin C) which are able to penetrate deeper into the skin in order to work more effectively.

Microneedling treatments are aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen production to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), stretch marks, skin laxity and scarring. Results vary, but usually a course of 1-4 treatments (maximum of 5, depending on the condition being treated) is recommended. Of course, results may vary from patient to patient. Keep in mind that the healthier your body is, the better will be the results you achieve from a Skin-Needling procedure. Your body’s function and overall health are reflected in your skin.

Treatment achieves:

  • Helps to build collagen

  • Smooths fine lines and may help fill in pitting or areas lacking structure

  • Smooths acne scars

  • Stimulates growth factors

Who can try Microneedling?

Microneedling is suitable for all skin tones and ages 18 and older.

Is Microneedling only good for the face?

Microneedling can also be done on other areas including the neck, decollete, body, arms, hands and legs.

Who’s not suitable for Microneedling?

You are not a candidate for Microneedling if you have:

  • Active Rashes or infections

  • Open Wounds

  • Eczema or Rosacea

  • Pregnant

  • Taking certain medications such as Isotretinoin (Accutane)

  • Prone to keloid scars

People who have a lot of active acne, active rashes, active infection, open wounds or cuts on the skin and keloid scarring (hypertrophic scars/poor wound healing), or are taking medication like isotretinoin are not suitable for Microneedling.   It may take a longer time to recover for people who have poor self-healing ability.
